This training intends to provide participants with an understanding of good practices, available tools and the existing ADB and WB requirements as well as those under country systems concerning projects benefiting or affecting indigenous peoples in the Philippines. The training generally covers the essential elements of a culturally-appropriate social assessment and the benefits, risks and impacts associated with development projects. In particular, it will focus on the requirements and good practices for consultations and appropriate measures to design projects benefiting or affecting indigenous peoples. It is particularly useful to environmental and social safeguard practitioners, local government units, and environmental and social safeguard staff from project implementing units of government agencies involved in projects affecting indigenous peoples.
